I love how at the beginning the interviewer reassured Noah multiple times that he's not trying to get spoilers lmao, I feel like Noah needed that. This movie has an awesome cast! A must watch! I read the book that this movies based off of and Im just gonna say. sure Ill watch this why not. His voice is so soothing and masculine loorddd. Waiting for Anya Watch movie. You know, I don't mind her killing those men... Ya'll need to watch out for Julia Garner. She's has a very promising acting career. What a talent.

T here is something melodramatic and soapy about this glossy adaptation of Michael Morpurgo ’s second world war novel for children, the story of a French boy who helps to save Jewish children by smuggling them over the mountains into Spain. The problem, I think, comes from a fear of upsetting its target audience of older kids (the film has a 12A rating). So the tough bits are fuzzily done – at arm’s length and hurried over – making for an oddly flat unemotional watch. The accents don’t help: the actors all speaking English dialogue with ’Allo-’Allo accents (with Jean Reno thrown in for a bit of Gallic authenticity). The setting is occupied France. In the Pyrenees, teenager Jo (Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp) discovers that mean old lady Widow Horcada ( Anjelica Huston) is in fact heroically hiding Jewish children on her pig farm. Huston does her best with a thin character, but even she struggles with the starchy dialogue: “Some people collect coins or stamps. We collect enemies of the Reich. ” Widow Horcada is also harbouring a Jewish man, Benjamin (Frederick Schmidt), who has become separated from his young daughter, Anya. Reno plays Jo’s grandfather, a salty first world war veteran who marches around the village wearing his army medals in proud defiance of the occupying force. The film is gorgeous to look at, all alpine meadow flowers and glorious green mountains. But the drama loses momentum pretty early on. When the Nazis grow suspicious of Widow Horcada, her resistance gang must decide: should they risk one last journey over the mountains? Schnapp, with his lovely innocent open face, carries it all so far. But the film pulls its punches, awkwardly rushing through difficult scenes, such as the one involving a sneering sadistic German officer performing a mock execution on a teenage boy with learning difficulties. Kids may feel they’re owed more honesty. What a soggy mess. • Waiting for Anya is released in the UK on 21 February.

This child’s-eye view of Occupied France is set in a village in the Pyrenees, where, at the outset, Jo (Noah Schnapp), a shepherd’s son, spots a bear and alerts adults. The bear, a mother, is killed (the better to be used as a metaphor). Soon after, Jo discovers that at a nearby farm, a woman (Anjelica Huston) is hiding a Jewish man (Frederick Schmidt) and a growing number of children. His ability to keep that secret, even while he goes eagle-watching with a Nazi corporal (Thomas Kretschmann), is a test of mettle. “Waiting for Anya” is not so sentimental that it imagines every character can escape death. But it has little use for complexity. If there are Nazi collaborators among the French here, for instance, they don’t have notable speaking parts. And making the most prominent German officer sympathetic to saving Jewish children avoids reckoning with the depths of the Third Reich’s evils. Based on a novel by Michael Morpugo (author of “War Horse”), this film suffers from other deficits of verisimilitude. Characters speak English with such strong accents it’s odd that the director, Ben Cookson, didn’t opt for French and German. From this trailer alone im guessing the plot is that 'Cassandra' pretends to be drunk and the guys that try to take advantage of her because of it she kills/maims, because back in college she was kicked out/Left because she made a report that some guys took advantage of I'm guessing that 'Nina' maybe sister or friend? whoever it seems like she didn't go with her when they said they would take her home? and they didn't take action/brushed it off, and so she's targeting guys who do this and it leads up to her finding those guys again (maybe a reunion thing? and she targets them. Here's a plot point/twist I'm guessing might happen: Cassandra' was the one who was taken advantage of, and this main character we see is 'Nina' her twin sister, who's revenge killing people that acted like those guys in college because it led to her sister dying/suicide, so she's pretending to be her sister 'cassie' in their presence.
